The 1st Annual Poplar Forest Wine Festival

A FINE TIME WAS HAD BY ALL AT

THE POPLAR FOREST WINE FESTIVAL!!!

The Festival was held at Thomas Jefferson's Summer Retreat, Poplar Forest in Forest, VA,

right outside of Lynchburg, VA.

Many VA Wineries Participated, local craftsman sold their handiwork,

and period dressed musicians  performed Revolution Period pieces

on instruments of that day.

It was an absolutely beautiful day in Forest and the Festival was a huge success!

Many people who had never seen Poplar Forest attended tours of the home & enjoyed

the splendors of Mr. Jefferson's beautiful home away from home!

NATURAL BRIDGE ZOO - A FUN THING TO DO NEAR LYNCHBURG VA

THE NATURAL BRIDGE ZOO

A Fun Thing To Do Near Lynchburg VA

Beth Anne & Jon have been trying to take Brylan to the Natural Bridge Zoo on Rt 11 in Rockbridge Co, VA all summer & we finally got it all together to go on Saturday.  What a beautiful VA Fall Day for a Family Fun Thing To Do Near Lynchburg VA!

Here is a hint – if you take this Fun Thing To Do near Lynchburg VA – DO NOT let the KIDS hold the pellet food when you go through the gate.  I had the bag of food and the Llamas chased me – the Alpha Male was a real pig!  I threw the food at Tom and he got them away from me – we would have pictures but everyone was to busy either laughing at me or trying to keep the kids out of the fray!  Anyway the Llamas like the pellet food and will follow you all over the entire park – but they are funny and cute especially the babies who are nursing and will not eat the pellets!

The Monkeys were a real hit with our two & both of them got excited to see the Zebra and the Giraffes!  But Brantley did not think much of the elephant – too big for her!  Brylan loved all of the birds – even the screaming ones!

And the BABIES – oh the baby animals are so cute.  You can see “our Babies” watching the “Zoo Babies” – we even got to feed the baby Camels!  Brylan was not to sure about the Baby Camel getting a BaBa…as you can see.

Brantley and I loved the “Mingos” – because of course we have lots of “Mingos” at Kakie’s house!

Beth Anne would not even go near the Snake House!  But we liked the Turtle Shell and the Alligator as you can see.

What a great couple of hours we all had – and we highly recommend the Fall for a visit – cool and the “Nature Smells” were not bad at all!  A real Fun Thing To Do near Lynchburg VA!!

A FUN THING TO DO!

FOAMHENGE

Natural Bridge, VA

http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/

Yep you read it right – FOAMHENGE (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/9209)!  A fun & FREE thing to do in the Lynchburg, VA Area!  Located on Rt 11 about a mile from Natural Bridge it is kind of a shock the first time you see it!

We were taking the kids (Brantley & Brylan) to the Natural Bridge Zoo – another Fun Thing To Do in Lynchburg, VA and decided to stop by and show Beth Anne & Jon (daughter & son-in-law) this little gem of an oddity located about 30 minutes from Lynchburg, VA in Rockbridge Co, VA.

We had to keep the kids kind of quiet because there was a film crew filming a scene among the "stones" and everyone was having fun!

It was a beautiful morning and the kids had a ball playing on the rocks – they really didn’t pay to much attention to anything else!  So if you are looking for a great place to take pictures, climb a hill, get some fresh VA air, view the beautiful Mountains of VA - check out this Fun Thing To Do in the Lynchburg, VA area – you won’t be sorry!

THANKS for Stopping by KATHY'S KORNER

I'm pretty new at this Blog Thing but its fun & I get to show off my Family!!!

SEDALIA CENTER CHILI COOK-OFF

MmmmmmmmGOOD!!!!

The SEDALIA CENTER is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bedford County Virginia – and it is beautiful setting for wonderful Events!!!  Yesterday was the 13th Annual Chili Cook-Off and it is so much fun!!  The nice thing about this event is that it is so Family Friendly and beckons multi-generations to come out and play for an afternoon!

We ate, we danced, we swang, we visited with old friends, admired the children, we played, we shared fun times with our kids, grandkids, old friends and new friends.  And the Chili wasn't bad either!

Check out THE SEDALIA CENTER @  http://www.sedaliacenter.org/ for more information on their programs and their Festivals!!
